Welcome to Troop 610. Our troop is chartered by St. Stephen Catholic Church. The troop was formed in 1995 with a small number of boys, and has continued to grow and flourish to 50 registered youth. This has been accomplished by placing a strong emphasis on training, and by utilizing the patrol method.
As a result, the Scouts have built a successful troop.
In the troop's 22 years, over 60 Scouts have worked for and earned their Eagle Scout Rank. Past achievements by the Scouts include earning of Religious Emblems in their chosen faith, service projects within the community, top honors at summer camps and troop competitions, and consistent advancements at every level, including Eagle Scout.
What's a parent's role in Boy Scouts? Your first role in Scouting is simply to continue what you are doing: Be a parent. Help your son succeed. Be supportive. Follow through. You're here because you see value in the Scouting program. Help that value come through. There will always be times when your son doesn't want to go the weekly meeting or seems to be losing interest in advancing and doing his best in Scouting. That's when he needs a parent's encouragement. Scouting works best when the whole family is behind it.
Another role is to volunteer. From driving Scouts to weekly meetings to transporting them to camp outs, to preparing food for our Courts of Honor to organizing and managing troop fundraisers, their support is essential to the operation of this unit. While Boy Scouts fosters independence, parent involvement—behind the scenes or otherwise—is crucial. We couldn't do it without the help of parent volunteers.
